Community Action
Garden Volunteer Hours
Join Health in the Hood’s mission to make healthy food accessible in underserved communities. Our garden volunteers play a vital role in maintaining our gardens and ensuring they remain productive, beautiful, and welcoming spaces for all.
Our gardens directly support our community members and offers educational programming. By volunteering, you’re helping us grow fresh produce that’s shared with families in need.
We meet every Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at our Opa-locka Garden. Whether you’re looking to give back, learn more about gardening, or connect with others, your time and energy will make a difference.
What will volunteers do?
Volunteers help with planting, weeding, composting, harvesting, laying soil, and general garden upkeep. No prior gardening experience is necessary, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and contribute to a meaningful cause.
What will volunteers need to bring or wear?
Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes, bring water, sunscreen, and wear clothing that can get dirty!
