Land Action
Matheson/Fairchild Invasive Mangrove Project
Join us for an immersive, hands-on environmental restoration event at Matheson Hammock and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden! This initiative focuses on removing invasive mangrove species that threaten the health of our coastal ecosystems.
Volunteers will get their hands dirty—literally—as we work together to restore native plant habitats, improve water flow, and strengthen Miami-Dade’s coastal resilience.
Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with local conservation experts who will explain the importance of mangrove restoration and its role in protecting our shorelines from erosion, improving water quality, and supporting diverse marine life.
As a thank-you for your hard work, all registered participants will receive free passes to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, offering a chance to explore its stunning landscapes, rare plant collections, and climate-focused exhibits.
What to Bring: Wear clothes you don’t mind getting muddy, closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and bring plenty of water!
How to Register: Email duncaj@miamidade.gov to sign up (until notified otherwise).
